AIMA held its annual Spotlight event in London on 19th September 2017
Simon Elvidge and Lorenzo Savi were pleased to join the event on behalf of EOS IM. A key note speaker was the former head of the MI5, part of the UK’s security service.
Jack Inglis, AIMA’s CEO, kicked off the Spotlight, setting the tone with the summary of the overall positive state of the sector, highlighting some of the prominent works conducted such as the Sound Practice Guides for the industry, the recent “Alive & Kicking” survey of emerging managers and so on.
EOS IM actively supports the sector, through participating in AIMA’s manager groups and specialist working groups.
The event had two main speakers this year. Lord Jonathan Evans, as mentioned, the former head of MI5 and now a main board member of HSBC gave an insightful talk about cyber security. He focussed on the challenges faced by the financial sector. Michael Mendelson of AQR, gave a thought provoking talk about the risk and its measurement, along with comments on perceived performance.
