AIFI (the Italian Private Equity, Venture Capital and Private Debt Association) hosted the first day of its annual Private Equity Event in London, on 8th June 2017. This year’s Event was for the third year running hosted at Bloomberg’s London headquarters, with the co-sponsorship of the Italian Embassy. The Event focused on “BREXIT: The Investors View”, with the Italian Ambassador to the UK, providing the opening address.
EOS IM was pleased to be invited to actively contribute to the key note roundtable panel, represented by Simon Elvidge. During the roundtable he discussed the firm’s views and insights in relation to BREXIT and the attractiveness of Italy from a PE and perspective. The explanation also included in summary how the international approach under the EOS IM business model allowed it both the flexibility and resources to smoothly manage the potential issues arising from BREXIT. Coincidentally, the event was held on the same day as the UK elections, adding to the topicality of the subject. The roundtable consisted of a number of high profile panelists from other major private equity firms (Apax Partners, Cinven, CVC Capital Partners and RiverRock), as well as top tier advisors to investors and players in the sector (EY and Legance). One of the key conclusions from the roundtable was that where there are challenges in relation to certainty, such as the BREXIT scenario, there are also opportunities.
